Feng Shui is a Moving Target

Lots of folks are under the impression that once a house is ‘Feng Shui’d’ (that’s not a word) it’s done. This is a mistake. Good Feng Shui is a moving target. Why? Because life is a moving target.

My recent push to de-clutter my house has been an interesting reminder of the changing nature of our lives. My “Tupperware” cabinet is a perfect example. Stuff that I needed for years while my boys were growing, like sandwich containers and popsicle molds, were going totally unused (and therefore re-homed) while I have needed to purchase some new tempered glass storage containers. These containers are being increasingly called to service as I am making more and more freezable meals to take to my elderly in-laws.

Such is life. Things change, and we have to adapt and change with them. The things we use, images that hold meaning, and intentions that we wish to anchor in our homes are constantly changing. So while there are certain structural things in a home that can be more permanently altered with Feng Shui, many things should be looked at regularly with an eye to the constantly flowing realities of our lives.

What, in your house, is no longer reflecting the life that you desire?
