Feng Shui can’t fix Everything

As a Feng Shui enthusiast, practitioner and teacher I attend a lot of classes, lectures, workshops and gatherings where Feng Shui is discussed. I have heard many diverse opinions and approaches to Feng Shui and I love to hear the different ways that other people approach a Feng Shui dilemma.

Despite the diversity of these conversations, there are still many themes and ideas that connect all schools of thought. There are also many myths and misconceptions that seem to spread like gossip through the Feng Shui world. Some of these ideas have roots in real Feng Shui philosophy and others are just plain silly.

One of the things I have often heard is that there is a ‘cure for everything’. This is an idea that comes from the more modern schools and is not prevalent in the more traditional schools of Feng Shui; and as far as I’m concerned, it’s simply not true.

Although there are many ways to mitigate floor plans and bad design, some things simply cannot be fixed, at least not easily or cheaply. If you’ve chosen a home with a spiral stairway, or a toilet over your front door, you are not going to fix this easily and the effects can create serious challenges. Although there may be various ‘cures’ to help shift the energy of this detail, they are never going to be as effective as having designed, or chosen the home more consciously in the first place.

We choose spaces that reflect our current comfort zone. If we are abundant and happy, we’ll likely choose spaces that encourage that vibration. If we are stuck and unhappy, we’ll sub-consciously reinforce that vibration just as surely. Hiring someone to help you objectively choose or design your spaces with an eye to beauty, functionality and Feng Shui, can help you to create the home, and the life you are wishing for.

Create consciously!
